HRT and Cellulite
For women, HRT and cellulite has something in common. They are intertwining and further information is needed in order to realize how important hormones are in the body and how it can affect the increase of cellulite appearance in one’s body. HRT or what is also known as Hormone Replacement Therapy, is done by getting a specific number of hormones which is usually in the form of progesterone, estrogen and a bit of testosterone, one is trying to combat the disagreeable effects that are commonly associated with menopause. The rate of hormones depends on the demands of the body thus, the kind of HRT that you are taking will determine if you will most likely experience a boost in cellulite appearance. And because estrogen is said to be lipogenic, the process wherein carbohydrate excess are converted into fats and are stored in certain areas in the body, if you tend to increase its level, it will lead to weight gain which will also lead to cellulite.
Linking HRT and Cellulite
According to a definite source, the female species have skin that can easily absorb fats. It can easily push upward starting from the deep layers of the skin to the more superficial layers. This is absolutely normal. However, this is exactly the reason why there is cellulite! Making sense of that idea, you can now see that once you have more fats stored inside your body, your cellulite condition will clearly become more evident. Blame it on a woman’s estrogen levels since it increases the amount of cellulite in the body. Another fact is that estrogen increases further if women are taking pills or if they are pregnant.
Progesterone: Counteracting Estrogen
Based on medical studies, progesterone has a significant role in the body by counteracting the effects of increased estrogen. Therefore it can avoid weight gain and probably provide thorough assistance to women who are basically concerned with HRT and worsening of cellulite. Progesterone has many uses, one of which is that it balances estrogen side effects, it also improves a woman’s mood and prevents insulin overproduction. On the other hand, too much estrogen can be quite alarming since it can cause retention of water which is one factor in the creation of cellulite, it also damages blood vessels which lead to minor headaches, causes morning sickness, and causes homocysteine to elevate. Homocysteine is responsible for the making the blood vessels quite sticky which then leads to the creation of plaques and clots.

Apparently, estrogen has something to do with cellulite appearance but still, it is not the only cause of it. Researchers are still finding for definite answers on the real causes of cellulite. By balancing estrogen and progesterone, one can easily counteract the increase in weight and forming of cellulite.
